The All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) hailed for boycotting the second phase of so-called local bodies polls. The spokesmen of these parties said that the puppet government tried to raise the poll percentage with the help of mobile voters and other mal-practices.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the spokesmen of these organisations in their separate statements said that people completely dissociated themselves from electoral process and the polls percentage was raised with the help of mobile voters and other mal-practices. They said peoples' indifference towards elections was evident from the general strike observed against the polls drama. Hurriyat spokesman congratulated people for boycotting the municipal corporation elections drama." The boycott has shown that fraudulent elections cannot be an alternative to the right of self-determination. We believe that holding of elections under gun point have no moral or legal justification. Credible polls are only possible when Indian troops are withdrawn from Kashmir," he said.

The spokesman appealed the international human rights organisations and UNO to organise elections in occupied Jammu and Kashmir to allow the people to decide about their future. " The way people remained in their homes today showed their deep involvement with the ongoing movement," he said.

JKLF spokesman said the people preferred to remain indoors, observe strike, organise demonstrations and resorted to boycott." By doing so the people raised their voice against the so-called election process and the pro-India parties were shattered. Paid persons were transported from outside areas to act as mobile voters who raised the poll percentage. Democracy was insulted and this act is shameful and condemnable," he said.

The mobile voters were chased by the people at several places and even mainstream parties clashed with each other, he added.

The JKLF spokesman congratulated the people for boycotting the polls and observing a general strike.

A spokesman of DFP also hailed the people for the boycott and general strike. He said that mainstream parties used bogus voters to mislead the international community.
